Latinos-en-Control

(“Diabetes Management for Low-Income Hispanic Patients”, NIDDK, 5R18DK065985) evaluated the efficacy of a culturally- and literacy-tailored cognitive-behavioral intervention (CBI) in comparison to usual care, aimed at enhancing adherence to diabetes self-management behaviors and thus improve glycemic control (HbA1c) among low-income Hispanic individuals. Women comprise 76.6% of the sample; the average age is 63y. About 75.2% of patients have less than high school education. Three 24-h dietary recalls were collected at baseline, 4- and 12-months after randomization (9 recalls total).
